A leader is not just a position but he needs to be firming, consistent in character and has a high sense of concern for the surrounding environment so that he can have a positive impact on the surrounding environment both in terms of cognitive and affective. This leadership character briefing was given in the form of the ADINURANI (Teach Manner and Sharpen Conscience) program which was held for the Postgraduate students of the Faculty of Business and Economics of Ubaya. The theme raised in this ADINURANI 2018 is “Pandhega Paramudita“. In this theme, participants were given knowledge and trained based on tulodho ing culture (Javanese) as a solution. Besides knowledge about knowledge, wisdom, and integrity, 3 values can be used as guidelines for being a good leader, namely Sabda Pandhita Ratu, Berbudi Bawaleksana, and Aja Dumeh Kuwasa. This activity was divided into two sessions, namely the first session held on August 8, 2018, and the second session which was held on August 11-12, 2018.
In the first session, the participants were invited to join a sharing session with graduate alumni, namely Mr. Dr. Teddy Reiner Sondakh, S.Psi., S.H., M.Hum about the importance of building networking. Education is indeed important, but it will be more useful and developed if it is aligned with building networking. In addition to the alumni sharing program, participants were also introduced deeper into the department at the FBE postgraduate study programs, both the Master of Management delivered by Dr. Putu Anom Mahadwartha, S.E., M.M., CSA., as Head of the study program, as well as Master of Accounting delivered by Dr. Bonnie Soeherman, S.E., M.Ak. as Head of the Master of Accounting.
Participants were provided with various information about courses, the vision, and mission of the department, the concentration category, various activities that become lecture methods, graduate competencies, regulatory developments, and not to miss various facilities that can be utilized by postgraduate students to support the lecture process.
In the second session, participants were given materials and also carried out various activities at Ubaya Training Center in Trawas area. Some of the material presented included the Knowledge, Wisdom, and Integrity (KWI)-based Leadership Seminar by Dr. Bonnie Soeherman, S.E., M.Ak.; Training on Building Human and Nature Harmony by Mr. Drs.ec. Sujoko Efferin, M.Com (Hons), M.A., Ph.D.; Pandhega Paramudita Seminar by Dr. Drs. Wiyono Pontjoharyo, M.M., Ak., CMA.; Full Time Living Training by Dr. Bonnie Soeherman, S.E., M.Ak.; Learning Strategy Seminar at the Postgraduate Program by Dr. Putu Anom Mahadwartha, S.E., M.M., CSA., and the introduction of Leadership Club by BPH Leadership Club Postgraduate. In addition to giving material at the seminar, participants were also invited to carry out various activities, including outbound activities, each of which gave meaning related to the character of a good leader by elevating the concept of Bharatayudha War and the Bonfire ignition which was filled with sharing activities before starting lectures at Ubaya FBE Postgraduate with Maping (Companion Students).
Briefing on the character of a good leader is very important, as leaders, we must be able to maintain harmony and harmonization of the universe by not only thinking for ourselves, but also other people and the surrounding environment. KWI’s emphasis as a prospective leader must be able to see something from a different perspective so that it can produce good and wise decisions because by starting something good the results will be good.
During the training session on Human, Nature, and Harmony Drs.ec. Sujoko Efferin, M.Com (Hons), M.A., Ph.D. emphasizes the importance of understanding the universe in us and not judging ourselves, besides being mindful of whatever is done, here and now. In this session, participants were invited to meditate not only in the room but also in road meditation. The Full-Time Living session was held in contemplation of the kindnesses that have been felt. Dr. Bonnie Soeherman, S.E., M.Ak emphasized how we need to be grateful for the kindness that we get (knowledge), care for others and the surrounding environment. Besides, we must focus on our potential.
As a prospective leader, it is important to know what the meaning of Pandhega Paramudita and how can we be wise leaders by referring to cultural principles. This was conveyed in the material presented by Dr. Drs. Wiyono Pontjoharyo, M.M., Ak., CMA. This material is more interesting to follow because of the short stories about puppetry which are native Indonesian culture, namely the story of the Ramayana by Dr. Bonnie Soeherman, S.E., M.Ak. and Gunawan Christanto who is the coordinator of the ADINURANI program. The story was delivered in a different perspective, giving rise to its harmony and beauty from the Ramayana story. This can be seen through the response of new students and organizers who were very enthusiastic about listening to the story.
“The lecture is hard because there are many tasks and make us have to learn, but we have to be able to make the lecture enjoyable.” Putu Anom Mahadwartha, SE, MM, CSA., While providing material on post-graduate learning strategies during ADINURANI session 2. In this material, new students were invited to understand and be able to implement strategies that can be used to face lectures at Ubaya Postgraduate and change the mindset from hard to easy lecture.
In the end, the event was closed by giving prizes to participants and organizers with various categories such as the most excited participant to Stefan Adi, the most inspiring participant to Izzatun, and the most “Pracanda” participant and team to Verrawati and Arjuna’s team. Winners of all categories are determined through observations during the ADINURANI activities. Hopefully, this activity can benefit all new postgraduate students so that in the future they can become leaders who are not only smart but also wise and have high integrity.
